So far while studying inquiry, I have created an inquiry-based unit that aligns with the standards I use to teach my fourth grade students. In my unit, students are exploring the Earth's movement. The movement of the Earth creates many changes that we get to see and experience. Through many different activities, students will be learning that the movements of the Earth affect the position of the sun, moon and stars at different times of the day, month and year.
While putting this unit together, I found many things to be helpful and useful. The content I was able to access through Wilkes University was a great starting point. From there, I was able to check out the Discovery Education Techbook which is still one of my favorite tools I've discovered in this course. Lastly, the conversations with classmates really helped put inquiry and Web 2.0 tools into perspective when implementing it into a classroom. Their insight, experience, and recommendations were really helpful and opened my eyes to new tools that really support a blended classroom. I am very thankful for all of the resources that I've been exposed to and am also very excited to incorporate these ideas into my fourth grade classroom.
Here is the link to my site with my inquiry unit. The only thing left to do is create a rubric to assess student's and their learning. Any feedback is appreciated!
